Banana Chocolate Oat Snacking Squares

Naturally sweetened with dates and banana, high in fibre, chewy, and decadent! These snacking squares are perfect to curb sugar cravings and mid-day hunger.


  • 1/2 cup dates (I soaked in warm water for 10 min)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp veg oil
  • 1 flax egg (1 tbsp ground flax mixed with 3 tbsp water)
  • 1 1/2 cup oats (1/2 cup ground)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • Add ins: walnuts, peanut butter, seeds


  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Line square or loaf pan (depending on how thick you want them) with parchment paper.
  2. In blender, blend soaked dates, banana, vanilla, oil, and flax egg.
  3. Add banana mixture to a bowl and add oats, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix with spatula until fully combined.
  4. Mix in chocolate chips.
  5. Bake in oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown top.
  6. Let cool for 20 minutes then cut into squares.
